IMPORTANCE OF HINDI :       

As India is a vast Nation, so many different languages are spoken in different states and many people live here ,who speak different languages . It causes a great hindrance in uniting the country. So there should be a language that can unite the country as a whole. Hindi is the only language which is commonly spoken in most parts of our country and it became  our  National  Language. Hindi Divas is celebrated on 14^th September because on this day in 1949 , the constituent Assembly of India had adopted Hindi written in Devanagari script as the Official language of the Republic of India. This decision was ratified by the Constitution of India that came into effect on 26 ^th January 1950. Hindi is very popular in foreign countries . In Mauritius , Hindi is very popular.

HISTORY OF THE DEPARTMENT :

The seed of Hindi Department of D.R.W.College was sown in the year 1981. Ms. Naga Lakshmi had been instrumental in laying the foundation. Later since 1987 , Dr.P.Kamala Sayi nurtured the Department with her utmost dedication. At present Hindi is being taught as a second language in Nine U.G. Programmes.
